Tungsten-Copper Composite: material & procurement overview

Tungsten-copper is commonly called tungsten copper alloy in purchasing searches, but is more accurately treated here as a composite material system. Tungsten and copper contributions vary with composition and processing. Our brochure includes this material family for electrical, thermal and equipment-component enquiries.

Composition-specific balance

Discuss the exact W/Cu grade with the thermal, electrical and dimensional requirements.

Interfaces matter

Contact surfaces, brazing or joining details and any coating requirements need to be defined for the component.

Verified property inputs

If conductivity, density or expansion controls the design, specify the test and acceptance criteria in the enquiry.

Reference basis: Our product brochure, printed pages 12–13. These values or composition examples describe the material family. They are not guaranteed values for every delivered grade or finished component.

The copper fraction and processing state affect composite properties. Pure tungsten’s melting point must not be quoted as the W–Cu working-temperature limit. W–Cu and W–Ni–Cu are different material systems.

Applications & design inputs

Connect the material choice to the finished component: identify the process, contact surfaces, operating conditions and critical assembly interfaces.

Use the examples below to prepare a drawing-based enquiry. Final material suitability and achievable geometry are reviewed for your project.

Electrical contacts & electrodes

Give current duty, contact medium, geometry and surface requirements for material review.

Thermal-management components

Provide the assembly layout, heat-transfer duty and critical mounting or joining interfaces.

Custom equipment blanks

Specify machining allowance, composition, dimensions and documentation needs.

Tell us which surfaces contact the process, which dimensions control fit, and what documentation the project requires. An application example is a starting point for a specification; final suitability is reviewed against your actual conditions.

From your drawing to an agreed manufacturing scope

01 · Define — Send the grade, drawing and function, with unknown details clearly marked.
02 · Review — Discuss geometry, processing, surface condition and critical inspection requirements.
03 · Agree — Confirm quotation scope, documentation, packaging and delivery requirements before production.
Our material range and manufacturing photographs support drawing-based project enquiries. Achievable dimensions, material properties and inspection scope are reviewed for the actual grade and part; the photographs do not define a fixed stock item.

Tungsten-Copper Composite procurement questions

Is tungsten copper the same as tungsten nickel copper?

No. W–Cu is a tungsten-copper composite; W–Ni–Cu is a tungsten heavy-alloy system. Use the exact composition and designation for quotation.

Can you quote non-standard forms and dimensions?

Send your drawing or initial dimensions, material grade, quantity and component function. We review the required geometry and finishing together. State whether you need a material blank or a finished component.

Do the reference values define the delivered specification?

No. Use the exact grade and agreed order requirements. Tell us which material tests and inspection records you need so their scope and acceptance criteria can be included in the quotation.

Request a tungsten-copper composite products quotation

Send your grade, drawing, dimensions, quantity and operating conditions to sales@bomometals.com. Include the delivery country, requested schedule and required inspection documents.
A sketch or description can start the discussion. The finished specification, manufacturing route and quotation terms are agreed for your project.
