Custom Molybdenum Sheet & Plate

Molybdenum sheet and plate for cut blanks, furnace shielding and drawing-based components. Specify your material grade, thickness, width, length and surface requirements so we can review a custom manufacturing route and quotation.

Molybdenum material properties & specification reference

Molybdenum is a refractory metal used in specified thermal and equipment components. Its lower density relative to tungsten can be relevant to an assembly design. Pure Mo, carbide-strengthened TZM and lanthanum-oxide-dispersed MoLa must be treated as separate material specifications.

Material identity

Select pure molybdenum or a named alloy with an agreed chemistry and condition.

Thermal operating context

Specify vacuum or gas atmosphere, exposure to air, thermal cycles, load and contact media. Melting point is not an operating-temperature guarantee.

Drawing-based geometry

Define critical dimensions, datum surfaces, finish and inspection requirements for the actual component.

What to specify for molybdenum sheet & plate

Sheet and plate are flat molybdenum product forms. This page covers both terms in one place, including material for further processing and blanks with a defined cut profile. The required thickness and final use determine which form and processing route should be discussed.
Our product materials describe rolled, cleaned and ground flat-product conditions, with cutting and further fabrication considered for the part. Describe whether the material will be formed, joined or machined after delivery. Surface appearance alone does not establish its grade, treatment or flatness.

Customization options & quotation inputs

Customization inputWhat to specifyDetails for review
MaterialPure molybdenum grade or a separately specified TZM/MoLa gradeStandard, chemistry or material specification required by your drawing
DimensionsThickness, width, length and cut outlineCritical thickness variation, flatness and edge requirements
Surface and stateAs-rolled, cleaned or ground condition to discussRequired finish, cleanliness and any specified material condition
Secondary featuresHoles, slots, profiles or formed partsDrawing revision, bend details and features needing inspection
These fields describe your requirements, rather than a fixed stock catalogue or a universal capability range. The selected material, geometry, quantity and inspection scope are reviewed together.

Applications & operating conditions

Custom metal frames assembled from flat material
Thermal-frame geometry from our company materials. Sheet thickness, joints, support positions and final metal grade must be specified.
Flat molybdenum products appear in our materials for vacuum-furnace shielding, thermal components and blanks for equipment manufacture. A shield blank and a finished assembly have different requirements: a blank needs a material and dimensional specification, while an assembly also needs attachment and clearance details. For thermal use, provide the operating atmosphere, temperature profile, cycle frequency and mechanical load. Pure molybdenum, TZM and MoLa are different materials and should be named separately. The website does not assign one service temperature to all grades and forms.

Agree the manufacturing and inspection scope

Start with a current drawing, material specification and the features that determine fit or function. Identify any surfaces, connections or operating conditions that need special review. The proposed manufacturing route and achievable requirements are discussed before the order scope is agreed.
List the material documentation and dimensional or surface checks your procurement process requires. Their availability and acceptance criteria should be agreed in the quotation. For a repeat order, identify changes to the drawing, material or service conditions.

Molybdenum Sheet & Plate questions

Should I order molybdenum sheet or molybdenum plate?

Supply the required thickness, width and length rather than relying on the name alone. Sheet and plate enquiries use this same page; the appropriate form is reviewed against your drawing and intended processing.

Can I request non-standard dimensions?

Yes. Send the required dimensions and mark the tolerances that matter for your application. We review the actual material, geometry and quantity; the photographs are not fixed-size or stock listings.

What are the lead time and documentation options?

Include your required schedule and documents with the enquiry. The inspection scope, production route, quantity and delivery requirements are reviewed before quotation; one lead time is not promised for all custom parts.

Request a molybdenum sheet & plate quotation

Email your drawing, sketch or initial requirements to sales@bomometals.com. Include the following information where available:
  • Thickness × width × length; flatness and thickness tolerances; cut shape, edge finish and further processing.
  • Material grade or standard, drawing revision and component function.
  • First-order quantity, expected repeat demand and required inspection or material documents.
  • Operating conditions, delivery country and location, and requested schedule.
We review the achievable specification, inspection scope, packaging and quotation terms for your project. A photograph can start the discussion; dimensioned information is needed to define manufacture.
