Vacuum Furnace Hot-Zone Replacement & Rebuild

Replace an older vacuum-furnace hot zone using drawing review, dimensional survey and custom manufacture of the agreed assembly or components. BOMO Metals helps turn available drawings, measurements, samples and condition photographs into a defined replacement scope. Rebuild and new-assembly options are reviewed against the condition of the parts proposed for reuse.

Separate the replacement objective from the proposed solution

Tell us whether the project is planned renewal, replacement of damaged components, a new hot zone for an older furnace or a dimensional redesign. Describe the observed issue and the required operating duty without assuming that one component is the sole cause.

Document the equipment

Collect furnace model and records, hot-zone geometry, process information, existing drawings and condition photographs.

Measure and develop the drawing

Agree how accessible dimensions and mating interfaces will be recorded. Identify datums, wear, distortion and missing information before the replacement design is approved.

Define what is replaced

List retained and new items, any inspection of reused parts, manufacturing deliverables and the responsibilities for removal, installation and acceptance.

New assembly, component replacement or rebuild?

RouteSuitable starting pointWhat must be resolved
Individual componentsDefined damaged or worn items with a usable drawing basis.Mating dimensions, material, fit and the condition of adjacent parts.
Rebuild using retained partsAn agreed set of structural or assembly parts proposed for reuse.Condition, cleaning and inspection of reused items; deviations and repair boundaries.
New hot-zone assemblyA coordinated replacement of the agreed internal assembly.Complete envelope, connections, component layout, handling and installation interfaces.

These are planning routes, not a diagnosis or a promise that existing parts can be reused. If inspection changes the scope, the revised drawing and quotation require agreement before manufacture.

Review the assembly before defining the replacement scope

The product-family walkthrough shows the assembly exterior and internal layout. View it alongside your own measurements and condition photographs, then identify the parts to replace and interfaces to retain.

Plan the survey and changeover

BOMO Metals supports dimensional-survey and design work for the agreed project. Confirm whether the initial review will use customer measurements, an available sample or an arranged equipment survey; site access, location and responsibilities need to be defined in advance.

Share the intended shutdown window, removal access, lifting and packing constraints, installation interfaces and acceptance requirements. Lead time and any site-service arrangements are confirmed for the actual scope; they are not fixed by the furnace model alone.

The hot-zone scope is distinct from vessel, pump, controls or complete furnace overhaul. If these systems are involved, identify them separately so the responsible equipment parties can review the interfaces.

Connect the assembly, components and materials

Choose material-specific parts when the grade and individual component are already defined. For a coordinated internal assembly or a replacement project, use this hot-zone family and its dedicated pages.

Discuss the specified metal or alloy

Material grade, condition and compatibility with the furnace duty are confirmed for the approved design. Material melting points are not service-temperature ratings.

Questions before you send a drawing

Can replacement planning start without original drawings?

Yes. Available equipment records, measured dimensions, samples and condition photographs can start the review. The survey method and unresolved interfaces must be agreed before the replacement drawing is approved.

Should an old hot zone be rebuilt or replaced with a new assembly?

Compare the condition of proposed reused parts, the required changes and the complete manufacturing scope. Inspection may change the reuse decision; the chosen route and quotation need agreement before manufacture.

Does the service automatically include an on-site visit and installation?

Survey access, location, removal, installation and commissioning responsibilities are arranged for the actual project. State which site services are needed so they can be included or assigned explicitly in the quotation.

What should I send for a replacement quotation?

Send furnace information, available drawings, measured interfaces, condition photographs, process duty and the intended shutdown window. Identify new and retained components, requested documents and delivery destination.

Start with the drawing, measurements or existing hot zone

Send what is available and mark what still needs review: furnace information, geometry, material, process duty, quantity, destination and the replacement scope.
